Valley Christian's basketball teams are locked in and ready to go. Both boys and girls teams are in the playoffs and playing for a 3A State Championship. The girls are going into playoffs 17-1 and ranked #4 in the 3A rankings. This means they had a first round bye and in their first game they are playing #13 ranked Chinle Wildcats. Chinle comes into the tournament with a record of 13-16; however, this is a very tough team and will be a great test for the Lady Trojans. The Trojans have not played them yet this season, but they are in for a game with Chinle packing the stands for every one of their games and having an arena that holds 6,000 people. Your Trojans will need your help filling the stands, so be there to support their efforts towards a State Championship this Friday, February 16th at Mountain Pointe High School at 7:00 PM. When asked about their upcoming game senior Bree Hanzal stated "This game will be a great test for us and I'm excited to play another game with this team on the road to win a championship. I feel very confident with our game plan and feel that we are ready for the challenge ahead of us".
On the other side of Trojan basketball, the boys are going into playoffs undefeated with a record of 18-0. This also means that they had a first round bye and are going to be playing the #16 ranked Florence Gophers this weekend. The Trojans have played this team before in their last game of the regular season just a week ago, beating them 93-51. The boys are trying to win three State Championships in a row and Florence is the first obstacle in their way. So be there at Valley Christian High School on Bradley Gym on Saturday, February 17th at 7:00 PM and support your Trojans. When asked about their first-round game and a chance to achieve a three peat, senior Jake Harrison said "I'm excited for this opportunity to win another ring. Our team is playing great fundamental basketball, and we are peaking at the right time. This is a great group of men and I'm excited to win another ring with my boys".
