Boys Soccer is Back After a Long Christmas Break

2/13/2024 9:48:00 AM

The Trojans came out swinging in their first game back after the Bohdie Larson Classic. The Trojans faced off against the Lightning at Lincoln Prep on Wednesday, January 3rd. The Trojans dominated, not letting a single goal through in the entirety of regulation. Junior transfer Ryan Henderson ignited the Trojan offense, scoring the first goal of the game on a drive down the sideline and a beautiful shot from the outside of the box. From then on, the Trojans couldn't be stopped, with goals coming from seniors Cole Thomas, Jacob Leppert, and Talon Shoffner. After the tip-off goal, the boys were able to tally seven more to shutout the Lightning. Our boys walked away from this game, extending their win streak to four.

The next game was more of a struggle for our boys. We were in hostile territory, facing off against the Northwest Christian Crusaders at their house. The Trojans faced an 0-2 deficit heading into later regulation, when they scored a quick two goals to tie it. The game was intense with both teams playing amazing defense, but neither team was able to score heading into the final minutes. The game headed into overtime, and unfortunately, the Trojans let it in a goal, allowing the Crusaders to ice the game.

On January 12th, the boys were finally back at home after a long series of road trips. They faced off once again against the Arete Prep Chargers. Both teams had this game marked on their calendar after an early season matchup which resulted in the Trojans coming out on top in shut-out fashion. It was a close game, with Arete Pre being able to score off goalie mistakes from the Trojans. The Trojans were able to avoid the shutout, but still fell 1-2 at the end of the match.

After a week of rest and practice, The Trojans were back on the road against the Falcons at Veritas Prep on January 17th. The Falcons were able to start the game with a goal, coming off a goalie blunder. The Trojans were quickly able to respond, allowing the game to be tied 1-1 heading into half. Unfortunately, the tide changed in favor of the Falcons. The Falcons scored two more goals by the end of the game, and ultimately coming out on top.
