In week 4 of Valley Christian's football season, the Trojans will face off against Seton Catholic. The Trojans are more than prepared for this matchup, after one of the toughest games of the year against Thatcher last Friday. Last week's battle ended by stopping the Eagles' quarterback at the 1-yard line, which resulted in a Trojan 15-14 victory.
The Trojans have started the season off strong with a 3-0 record, despite losing over 20 seniors from last season's squad. Offensive standouts include Quarterback Gunnar Link and Wide Receiver Asher Hanzal; these two individuals have been instrumental in helping the Trojans on the way to their 3-0 record. Some defensive standouts would include Inside Linebacker Caleb Lewis, Defensive Lineman Hudson Pickett, and Defensive Backs Ethan Gomez and Will Bastian. Even though there is a young defensive line, they've found a way to compete with more experienced offenses.
Coming into this week, the Trojans are working hard to capture another victory. Valley Christian faced Seton Catholic last year, dominating the Sentinels in a decisive shutout 49-0. This was an especially memorable game as it was rescheduled after a quarter due to lightning. The Trojans are working towards another decisive victory tonight. After a big win this last week, the Trojans must make sure they are prepared and cannot let their guard down. Senior leader AJ Zvada says, "I like our odds, but we can't overlook them. We must stick to the game plan, and just do what we do best".
The game will be played tonight, on a Thursday, which is irregular. Due to some shortage of refs in the state of Arizona occasionally teams are asked to play a Thursday night game. Make sure to come out and support your Trojans as they take on the Sentinels in a Thursday Night Lights game.
This game will be played across town at Seton Catholic High School on Thursday, September 7 at 7:00 PM.
