The Valley Christian Varsity Trojans faced the Florence Gophers and dominated them 27-22 at the NAU Sky Dome.
Senior Gunnar Link (QB) had two passing and two rushing touchdowns. He was asked what the mentalities looked like for the team and himself. He responded, "I think that my mentality was filled with confidence because we were able to get things rolling on offense and for me, I was able to get my running game going. As a team I think this team really made us come together and bond with each other and lift each other up."
Throughout the four quarters, Isaiah Anderson had 48 rushing yards on offense against the Gophers. Since the bus ride was around three hours, Isaiah Anderson was asked what and how the bus ride was. He said "The bus ride was a lot of fun, a lot of the team slept while the rest of us talked to each other and just grew closer to each other. It was a great bonding experience."
At halftime the Trojans racked up 14 points and were tied with the Gophers. Isaiah Anderson (RB) had 8 carries and 4 rushing yards.
AJ Zvada was asked about his mentality going back into the game after halftime, he replied, "we knew we were going to win, but we weren't playing like it in the first half. Going back into the second half we needed to execute plays. Throughout the game it was a nail biter, but during the 4th quarter, Aidan Richards recovered the offensive fumble and gained 8 extra yards for the VC Trojans.
For the 2nd year in a row, the Trojans have come back with victories from the NAU Sky Dome.
