Tonight, September 28th at 7 p.m. the Trojan Football team will face our rival school, Gilbert Christian. The last time we played them in football was in 2021 where the Trojans beat the Knights 49-8, so the team is coming into this game with confidence. Senior quarterback Gunnar Link says, "I think we are going to play a really good game against Gilbert Christian because it's a big rivalry. We are going to kill them tonight."  

Earlier this week Trojan volleyball played Gilbert Christian away and the atmosphere was already tense, with many football players from both teams in the crowd. The Knights won the first set against the lady Trojans, so they got their hopes up, but in the other three sets our team smoked them, setting the tone for this Friday's football game. At the end of the game the Trojan fans were heard chanting, "SEE YOU FRIDAY!!" 

Gilbert Christian's football team just played Fountain Hills and won, so they are currently 4-2, while the Trojans are currently 5-1. The Knights are led by quarterback Tyler Burr, who has connected most with receiver Kamari Stanbury this year. The Trojans are ready to stop this duo on defense.  

Senior Safety Aidan Richards shared, "we are not as concerned about our opponent this week as we are about doing what we do well." Richards formally attended Gilbert Christian and transferred into Valley Christian as a junior. He shared, "it will be fun to play my old school on our field and show them what Trojans football is all about." 

Before the Trojans take on this challenging opponent in Gilbert Christian, the school is putting on our annual Homecoming Block Party. The Block Party is an open invite to the entire Valley Christian community and we would love to see you there! Everyone is welcomed so make sure to bring your family and friends! It starts at 4 PM and ends at 7 PM so you all can come out to the game afterward. Once again, there will be fun rides provided by RCS Fun, the company that puts on the Arizona State Fair. This year they are also bringing fun games and snack shacks for our community to enjoy!  

Make sure to stick around for halftime as the Trojan Spiritline will teaming up the JV and Varsity squads to put on an out of this world routing. Following that, Student Council will be announcing our 2023 Homecoming Royalty, followed by the annual alumni walk!
