After an impressive performance in the Pepsi Holiday Tournament, the Trojans beat Arapahoe High School from Colorado on December 16th 50-34 in front of the home crowd. The team climbed to an eight-point lead at halftime before surging to an insurmountable 16-point lead by the beginning of the 4th quarter.
Trojans traveled to Tucson on December 17th and blew out Pusch Ridge Christian Academy 57-38. After Christmas break the boys team was victorious over Rancho Solano Prep at home 83-43 on January 3rd. The Trojan Boys headed east to Globe on January 5th, gaining another victory, the final score being 86-55.
Overall the boys team has had a fantastic start to the season, going 14-1 so far, their only loss coming from California's Vista Murietta High School. While injuries and illnesses may have left the Trojans short a few players for the Vista Murietta game, the loss has not slowed the Trojans down in their quest for a back to back state title.
Some of the key members of the boys team had some thoughts to share on the season so far:
When asked what sets basketball apart from other sports, junior Jake Harrison said "Basketball is different from other sports because it is the most team-involved sport, and everyone must be on the same page."
When asked if Junior Austin Wallace believes their team can win state again he shared, "Our team believes that we have the talent take us all the way again. We all want to win back-to-back championships."
When asked what their favorite play to run was, multiple players commented that "Pinky" is a favorite.
