In the annual Stars and Stripes game Valley Christian took on Seton Catholic for their 4
th game of the season. The Trojans started off the game with two fumbles, but with a save from
Eric Miller, the second fumble turned into a touchdown. With the defense holding strong,
Grant Vance had a fumble recovery and
Hunter Heeringa was then able to hit
Ethan Heinrich for the Trojan's 13
th point of the game. With a good kick, the score was 14-0. After that, the football game was under a lightning delay and moved to be completed the following day.
When asked, the boys said they were frustrated by the lightning delay, "We just wanted to play our game, " said senior
Lincoln Womack. Yet, even with the frustration from having to wait a day to play the game, they came out hot Saturday night and defended their home field aggressively.
The game resumed on Saturday, starting at the beginning of the second quarter with the Trojans up 14-0. Right off the bat,
Hunter Heeringa hit
Ethan Heinrich for a touchdown. Then, with a forced fumble,
Hunter Heeringa hit
Adam Bradford for the Trojan's 4th touchdown of the game. The next score came from
Ethan Tovar,who ran the ball in for a touchdown from one yard away. During all of this the defense held strong, not allowing Seton Catholic to score.
The Trojans started the second half with a fumble recovery which led to an 18 yard touchdown by
Eric Miller.
Ethan Tovar then carried 3 yards for another Trojan touchdown leaving the score at 49-0.
The Trojans were proud to end their Stars and Stripes game as a shutout and they've officially never been scored on on their home field this season. Make sure to show up and show out this Friday, September 15
