In the last game of November, the varsity boys basketball team defeated Globe, 97-45. This high scoring game for the Trojans showed a high-level offense, resulting in almost a triple digit score. The JV and Frosh teams also took on Globe and won 72-38 and 63-23 respectively.
In addition to that, Valley Christian took on Regis Jesuits only a few days later on December 3rd. Regis Jesuit proved to be an intense opponent for the Trojans, and according to senior Grant Tammany, "Regis Jesuits was a great team and really tested team our chemistry." Despite that, Valley was still able to pull through and took the win with a final score of 81-79.
Junior, Luke Shaw, had back-to-back 40-point games against Globe and Regis Jesuit. When asked about his high scoring games Luke replied, "Anybody on the team can get hot at the right time. I'm thankful that my teammates recognized I was hitting shots and looking to score. They gave me the ability to have a great two games. Also, our chemistry was on point. Compared to last year we have really stepped that up."
The Trojans are still looking strong and with a few more games under their belts they have more to evaluate on. One thing that both Luke Shaw and Grant Tammany agree on is that they could improve on the defensive end: "We could improve on playing better team basketball, and improve on our communication, especially on defense" – Grant Tammany. "We can improve on defensive, getting rebounds, blocking shots, getting more steals"- Luke Shaw.
Come cheer on your Trojans at the rest of their regular season games! The next game is at home against Arapahoe (CO) on December 16th at 6:00pm!
