Entering into his 7th year as the girls basketball JV Head Coach and Varsity Assistant Coach. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Radio / Television Production from Mercyhurst University. Prior to earning a full athletic scholarship to play DII basketball at Mercyhurst University, Damon played basketball for one year at Howard Community College, where he led the team to the NJCAA Division II Final Four. Prior to HCC he attended the University of Maryland at College Park. Coach Sterling initially taught 9th grade and 11th grade English and coached JV and Varsity boys basketball at Wilde Lake High School in Columbia, MD, leading his team to the Elite 8 in the state tournament. He continued his teaching career as a Special Education Teacher at The Children’s Guild in Chillum, MD, teaching severely and emotionally disturbed children in 4th, 5th and 7th grades. Damon is now serving as the Admissions Manager at Valley Christian Schools, guiding families through the admissions process that want to have a distinctly Christian education. Damon also takes time out to personally train individual girl basketball players to help them develop a mamba mentality mindset, to build their mental and physical toughness, and to improve on all aspects of the game and to allow them to become an elite basketball player.
