Personal Information:

Coach Brecht has been a competitive runner since she was 13 years-old. After competing at the state level at Mt. San Antonio College, she earned a scholarship to run for BIOLA University’s track and cross-country teams. In her spare time, she has competed in several full and half marathons as well as other local running events. Upon graduating from college, she was the head cross-country coach while teaching at Glendora High School in California. She had the privilege of starting the Valley Christian Jr. High cross-country team five years ago. She also serves as a 9th grade teacher at VCS on the high school campus. Jenny is married to Matt Brecht, who is a probation officer with Maricopa County. They have two children who each graduated from VCS, Kyla (20) and Chase (18). Kyla attends Grand Canyon University, and Chase attends Arizona Christian University. Most recently, Coach Brecht earned the 2022 Arizona Republic’s Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year Honors after coaching the boys’ team to their first state title since 2013. 

Coach Brecht shared, “We are looking forward to our 2024 season.  We have been moved up a division, so it will be an interesting year to see how we compete and where we fall in the rankings.  Our girls’ team has 6 returning varsity runners and is looking strong.  Our boys’ team is rebuilding after graduating a lot of our varsity team last year, and we are excited to see what God has in store.”
