Coach Heeringa is a VC Alum, Class of 1993, and went on to earn a BS in Sociology from Arizona State University. As an athlete at Valley Christian, Erica was part of the 1992 State Runner Up Volleyball Team and the 1993 State Champion Track & Field team.
She has served Valley Christian Athletics in a variety of roles over the years, started by coaching indoor volleyball under legendary coach, Deanna Anglin, and helping to lead the Trojans to 7 straight championships. One highlight during that time was assisting the 1999 Trojan volleyball team that was inducted into the Chandler Hall of Fame.
In addition to coaching volleyball at Valley Christian, Coach Heeringa coached the indoor 15 and 16U club teams with East Valley Juniors for over 10 years. She also served as the JV indoor volleyball coach at Sioux Center High School in Iowa in 2010.
Coach Heeringa also helped start the softball program at Valley Christian, serving as the first head coach in the Spring of 2000.
Coach Heeringa married her husband, Keith, in 1997. Together they own Heeringa Construction, an agricultural construction company. They also have three children, all who are VC grades: Hailey ('16), Joshua ('20), and Hunter ('23).
Outside of coaching, she loves spending time with family and friends, traveling, boating, and golfing.
