Coach Barker heads into his second season as the Boys Soccer Head Coach. Before Valley, Barker coached alongside his brother Nick at Coronado High School for six seasons, guiding the Dons to finish as state runners-up once and state champions twice. Barker also spent one season as an assistant coach at Hamilton High School before beginning his coaching tenure at Valley.
Coach Barker brings a strong connection to Valley, having played varsity soccer for the Trojans all four years of high school. Paul led the Trojans to their 2nd state title as a captain of the 2008 team, while being named Small School Player of The Year for Arizona. Following his time at VCHS, Paul played one year of collegiate soccer at Arizona Christian University, before transferring to ASU to complete his BS in Sociology and his MS in Management. He is currently a Vendor Manager in the fintech sector of real estate.
Coach Barker led the team to a finish of 8-3-1 in his first season as head coach, with the season ending in the the first round of the state tournament last year. Though they lost a lot of seniors, the Trojans are excited to build on last year’s momentum heading into the season.
