The Valley Christian Trojans' JV football team is off to a hot start this year going 2-1 through their first three games. They defended the home turf by beating Thatcher and ALA Mesa North for their first two home games and suffered their first loss at an away game against Benjamin Franklin. The Trojans have combined for 61 points in their first three games and look to continue their tear on scoring points. Sophomore Brayden Fraley had this to say about their season so far, "this season is definitely an improvement from last year. The team is a lot more bonded together and has created a brotherhood."
This year Trojan Football also boasts a Frosh team (freshman/sophomore). Between the JV and Frosh football team there are 11 players that go back and forth for every game. These are a special group of freshman and sophomores that took the opportunity to play more games and show their resilience by sometimes playing two games a week.
The Frosh football team is also having a dominant season, starting off hot going 3-1. The team dominated Florence in their first game of the season winning 62-8 and continued the streak by beating Thatcher 20-14 the next week. The Trojans suffered their first loss in Tucson to Pusch Ridge, but bounced right back with a dominant win over the Liberty Lions. Quarterback Braylen Jackson (9) shared his favorite part of this season so far has been "bonding with [his] teammates and dominating [their] opponents together." Jackson continues, "it has created a second family for me."
The Trojan JV team looks to continue their season with a home game against Paradise Honors on October 16th. With only a couple games left, the Trojans look to end their season with a 5-1 record.
The Frosh team challenges Brophy next and looks to match that JV record, also hoping to finish their season 5-1. This makes the future of Valley Christian football look very bright.
